ReinFireRanch Github--builds on Oculus Go.
Rich Kalass had a genius idea. He runs Rein Fire Ranch, a beautiful wedding venue in secluded Ravensdale, WA.
Rich advertises his ranch at trade shows, using pictures and videos from happy guests. He wanted trade show attendees to understand the seclusion of the valley, so he hired me to make a VR experience.
We began design for the Google Cardboard. Cardboard has a rustic aesthetic and can be drawn on.
We pivoted to the Oculus Go when I found the price of a high-ppi smartphone and cardboard combo disturbingly near the Go's $200 price point.
The experience includes three shots of the Ranch and a background soundtrack.
Below is a pic from my first shoot of the ranch, a stitched monoscopic shot in about 4k.
I hadn't thought much about resolution when I rented a stereoscopic camera. Having never worked with visual footage, 4k seemed an unimaginably large number. I learned that, given aspect ratio of a sterescopic image and the huge surface area of a sphere's interior, 4k isn't very large at all.
I rented the Insta360 Pro and took a score of hi-res shots. Three of these were selected for the final project.
